4:45 am departure for Bakheng Temple for a panoramic sunrise view over Angkor Wat. This was followed by a picnic breakfast and an elephant ride. Then on to Angkor Thom, with its Bayon temple whose 55 towers have giant heads with Mona Lisa smiles. Lunch was at the Square 24 restaurant. Then we used a tuk tuk (auto rickshaw) to visit galleries, a dancing school, and various artisan workshops (the photos are from the lacquer workshop, and the woodcarving workshop). Our tour farewell dinner was at the Royal Khmer which included a dance performance. (I once again missed the temple due to heat, but Tom was really glad that he got to see Bayon with the giant heads.)
